The
SIGNIS Asian meeting was held from October 5 to 9, 2004
at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the theme ‘Promoting a Culture
of Peace’. At the end of the meeting, a charter was drawn
up and acted as a guideline by every Signis Asia member
while working towards the fostering of a ‘Culture of Peace’
in the Asian region.

In addition to business meetings, the host SIGNIS Malaysia
organized art competition, seminars and concerts. Over
50 representatives from various countries and regions
attended, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, East Timor,
Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Loas, Macau, Malaysia,
Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Above all, the sharing by East Timor was particularly
impressive. Meanwhile, a panel of new board members was
selected: Catherine Wong from DAVC, Hong Kong, was being
elected as the treasurer of SIGNIS Asia for a four-year
term. Dr. Dominic Yung, director of DAVC, Catherine Wong
and Loura Foo attended the assembly on behalf on SIGNIS-ASIA,
SIGNIS HONG KONG and DAVC.
