During
the Annual Assembly of SIGNIS-ASIA, it was announced <The
Way to Tibet>, a TV documentary produced by the Diocesan
Audio Visual Centre of Hong Kong (DAVC), won the
‘Fr. Maksymiliana Marii Kolbego Prize’ in the category of
documentary at the International Catholic Film and Multimedia
Festival Niepokalanow 2004. Dr. Dominic Yung, director of
DAVC, accepted the trophy from Fr. Peter Malone, President
of SIGNIS-WORLD.
Over 200 entries of films, TV and radio programs as well
as websites competed for the prizes. <The Way to Tibet>
directed by Tin Shing Wong, features the midst of mountainous
region in Yunnan, Catholic emigrants from Tibet, living
in isolated villages, managed to preserve faith despite
difficulties. They continued practicing their faith and
sang hymns in Tibetan dialects. In recent years, their
house-made vine has become a special trademark of the
province.
