"Stand up! Asian Women" (2)

[Heroine]

"Women are fragile, timid and weak" This quotation is time to rephrase.

The story and adventure of Mary and Joan of Arc have already proved the above quotation is wrong…

Who dares to say women are fragile, timid and weak?!

Our second Lesson~ from film to female

It was the third day we were in Bangkok. Dr Yung Yuk Yu gives the second lecture to us. Probably we have already known each other in Hong Kong, we felt warm and close when he was giving his lectures.

Based on different film segments, the lectures were divided into three sessions: First session was about the film study of depiction of Mary. Through nine gospel films, we knew the life of Mary as well as her truthful faith towards god. Her unswerving devotion enabled her to face the hardships.

The second session is based on the study of the life of Joan of Arc. Dr Yung selected twelve contemporary films by different directors in order of year of release. By the comparison of those characters of Joan of Arc, we understood the power of faith, how it overcome the fear of war and death, made Joan of Arc changed from a village girl into a nation heroine.

The third session is about the study of the development of women in China. Through six China films that starred by Gongli, we could grasp a general picture of women in modern world. Tradition made women into an under-privileged situation. But once they got aware of the inequality, they will rectify the situation bravely.

To us, the most importance of these lectures is to share the feeling with rest of the participants after enjoying films. Despite the status of women in Hong Kong is high when comparing with Asian regions, the heroine characters in films reminded ourselves as a female individual, we have our unique talent!

We got drunk this night!

It is 16th of Julyt…Dr Yung was going to leave Bangkok next day. At night, he specially brought us to have a drink in a bar and introduce his priest and musician's friend to us. When we were drinking, musician Paul demonstrated his outstanding performance by playing a water glass! This music is still echoed in our mind…

We ordered some snacks and a large tube of beer. We keep drinking and drinking, with such a pleasant atmosphere and relaxed music, how can we stop drinking?

Finally both of us got drunken! Comparing with the Korean friend Michelle, she just treated drinking beer as if drinking water. Her face never turned red, no wonder she was called "drunken well"!
